The Talpur dynasty was established in 1783 by Mir Fateh Ali Khan, who declared himself the first Rais, or ruler of Sindh, after defeating the Kalhoras at the Battle of Halani. He ruled until his death in 1801, when he was succeeded by his son Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur until 1811 2. The Talpurs are a Sindhi-speaking Hoth Baloch tribe with links to Sindh and Balochistan. They ruled over Sindh for about sixty years and Khairpur until 1955.
Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur was a prominent political figure in Sindh, Pakistan. He was born in 1913 and started his political career in 1936 by contesting elections from the Badin-Tando Bago constituency. He won the election and became a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur Sr. was elected President of the Local Board, Hyderabad twice.
